Shawarma is the Middle Eastern Arabic-style sandwich version of fast food. It is also spelled Chawarma, Schwarma, Shawirma, Shwarma, Shuarma, Shawerma, Shoarma or Shaorma.
The food is made by alternately stacking strips of fat and pieces of seasoned meat whether its lamb, beef or marinated chicken, is sliced razor-thin, layered into freshly baked pita bread, and topped with onions, tahini sauce, lettuce and tomato.
